1.
When the storms of life are raging,
Stand by me (stand by me);
When the storms of life are raging,
Stand by me (stand by me);
When the world is tossing me
Like a ship upon the sea
Thou Who rulest wind and water,
Stand by me (stand by me).
2.
In the midst of tribulation,
Stand by me (stand by me);
In the midst of tribulation,
Stand by me (stand by me);
When the hosts of hell assail,
And my strength begins to fail,
Thou Who never lost a battle,
Stand by me (stand by me).
3.
In the midst of faults and failures,
Stand by me (stand by me);
In the midst of faults and failures,
Stand by me (stand by me);
When I do the best I can,
And my friends misunderstand,
Thou Who knowest all about me,
Stand by me (stand by me).
4.
In the midst of persecution,
Stand by me (stand by me);
In the midst of persecution,
Stand by me (stand by me);
When my foes in battle array
Undertake to stop my way,
Thou Who savèd Paul and Silas,
Stand by me (stand by me).
5.
When I’m growing old and feeble,
Stand by me (stand by me);
When I’m growing old and feeble,
Stand by me (stand by me);
When my life becomes a burden,
And I’m nearing chilly Jordan,
O Thou “Lily of the Valley,”
Stand by me (stand by me).

I miss your quiche.
Funny, I was thinking about blogging my favorite hymn before I saw yours.
How Firm a Foundation
How firm a foundation, ye saints of the Lord, Is laid for your faith in His excellent word!
What more can He say than to you He hath said—To you who for refuge to Jesus have fled?
Fear not, I am with thee, oh, be not dismayed, For I am thy God, and will still give thee aid;
I’ll strengthen thee, help thee, and cause thee to stand,
Upheld by My gracious, omnipotent hand.
When through the deep waters I call thee to go, The rivers of sorrow shall not overflow;
For I will be with thee thy trouble to bless, And sanctify to thee thy deepest distress.
When through fiery trials thy pathway shall lie, My grace, all-sufficient, shall be thy supply; The flame shall not harm thee; I only design Thy dross to consume and thy gold to refine.
The soul that on Jesus doth lean for repose, I will not, I will not, desert to his foes;
That soul, though all hell should endeavor to shake, I’ll never, no never, no never forsake.
this song was on my mind just this morning!
Posting favorite hymns is a great idea!
My favorite hymn changes some as to what I need at the time, but this is one of my favorites. Hard for me to do many times but so good to remember.
Be Still My Soul
1. Be still, my soul- the Lord is on thy side!
Bear patiently the cross of grief or pain;
Leave to thy God to order and provide-
In every change He faithful will remain.
Be still, my soul- thy best, thy heav'nly Friend
Thru thorny ways leads to a joyful end.
2.Be still my soul-thy God doeth undertake
To guide the future as He has the past;
Thy hope, thy confidence let nothing shake-
All now mysterious shall be bright at last.
Be still, my soul-the waves and winds still know
His voice who ruled them while He dwelt below.
3.Be still, my soul-though dearest friends depart
And all is darkened in the vale of tears;
Then shalt thou better know His love, His heart,
Who comes to soothe thy sorrows and thy fears.
Be still, my soul; thy Jesus can repay
From His own fulness all He takes away.
4. Be still, my soul- the hour is hast'ning on
When we shall be forever with the Lord,
When disappointment, grief, and fear are gone,
Sorrow forgot, love's purest joys restored.
Be still, my soul-when change and tears are past,
All safe and blessed we shall meet at last.
By Katharina von Schlegel 1697
That was my granddad's favorite hymn.
